Para evitar o esgotar dos stocks de selos, os correios das Ilhas Faroe passaram a utilizar um carimbo manual, com o texto ‘Faroerne Franco – Betalt’ com os valores de 5 øre, 10 øre e 20 øre, dispensando assim a utilização de selos, como forma de pagamento.

To avoid running out of stocks of stamps, the post of the Faroe Islands began to use a hand stamp, with the text 'Faroerne Franco - Betalt' with the values of 5 øre, 10 øre and 20 øre, thus exempting the use of stamps as a form of payment.

Ocupadas, pelas tropas Britânicas, desde 9 de Abril de 1940, as Ilhas Faroé alteraram a frânquia postal de 15 øre para 20 øre, em 1 de Junho de 1940.
Depois de 1 de Outubro de 1940, Tórshavn começou a sobrecarregar os selos de 15 øre da emissão Caravela de 1939 com a indicação de 20 øre.

Occupied by British troops since 9 April 1940, the Faroe Islands altered the postage of 15 øre to 20 øre, June 1, 1940.

After 1 October 1940, Tórshavn began overprinting the Caravel stamps of 15 øre from the issue of 1939 with 20 øre mark.

Durante a I Guerra Mundial, a Dinamarca elevou o preço da taxa de franquia postal para 7 øre (a unidade de moeda na Dinamarca é a coroa, que é subdividida em 100 unidades chamadas øre).

As Ilhas Faroe, uma província autônoma da Dinamarca, também tinham que passar a utilizar a nova taxa de franquia postal.

Devido à guerra em curso, as transferências para as Ilhas Faroé foram reduzidas ao essêncial e as autoridades postais na Dinamarca não poderiam obter novos selos de 7 øre para o arquipélago a tempo, do aumento postal de 1 de janeiro de 1919.

Depois de se esgotarem rapidamente os selos de 2 øre e de 1 øre, que estavam a ser vendidos em conjunto, com o abundante selo de 5 øre, da emissão King Christian X de 1913, o administrador dos correios das Ilhas Faroé, para soilucionar o problema, teve de recorrer a uma táctica de cortar ao meio os selos de 4 øre, e assim produzir dois selos de 2 øre.
Estes selos cortados ao meio, circularam por um perído de cerca de 11 dias, entre os dias 3 e 14 de Janeiro de 1919.

Este processo, terminou após o administrador dos correios das Ilhas Faroé, ter recebido autorização para proceder à colocação de um sobrecarga de 2 øre nos selos de 5 øre da emissão King Christian X de 1913.

Os selos cortados, permaneceram como válidos até 31 de Janeiro de 1919.

During World War I, Denmark raised the price of postage rate to 7 øre (the unit of currency in Denmark is the crown, which is subdivided into 100 units called øre).

The Faroe Islands, an autonomous province of Denmark, also had to switch to the new postage rate.

Due to the ongoing war, shipments to the Faroe Islands were reduced to the essential and the postal authorities in Denmark could not obtain new stamps of 7 øre to the islands in time for the January 1, 1919.

After quickly running out of 2 øre and 1 øre stamps that are being sold together with the abundant 5 øre stamp from the King Christian X stamp issue.

To solve the problem, the administrator of the post of the Faroe Islands, had to resort to a tactic of cutting in half the stamps of 4 øre, and with this produce two stamps of 2 øre.

The Faroe Islands issued the bisected 4 øre stamps for a period of about 11 days, between Jan. 3 and Jan. 14, 1919.

This process, ended after the administrator of the post of the Faroe Islands has received authorization to proceed with placing a burden of 2 stamps øre in the issuance of 5 øre King Christian X of 1913.

The bisected stamps remained as valid postage until the January 31st.

Os bilhetes postais, apresentam reproduções de selos da Dinamarca e exemplos de marcas postais, no periodo compreendido entre 1919 e 1941.

Os referidos bilhetes postais, foram criados por Robert Bechsgaard um coleccionador e comerciante de selos dinamarquês, para a HAFNIA.

Set of 10 postcards with the Faroe Islands postal history. The postcards present reproductions of stamps and postmarks of Denmark in the period between 1919 and 1941.

Those postcards have been created by Robert Bechsgaard, a Danish collector and stamp dealer for HAFNIA.
