A Igreja de Hvalvík / The Church of Hvalvík

Hvalvík, cujo nome significa ‘Baía das Baleias’ é uma aldeia situada num vale,na costa leste de Streymoy. A igreja foi construída em 1829 , para substituir a anterior de 1700, entretanto em ruínas devido a uma tempestade. O púlpito, datado de 1609, é originário da antiga Igreja de Þórshöfn..

Emissão comemorativa dedicada à mais antiga igreja, construída em madeira, das Ilhas Faroe. A série de dois selos de 450 oyru e uma carteira com 10 selos foi emitida em 15.09.1997.

Hvalvík, whose name means' Bay of Whales' is a village situated in a valley on Streymoy east coast. The church was built in 1829, to replace the previous church from 1700 becomes in ruins because of a storm. The pulpit dates back to 1609 and was originally in the Church in Þórshöfn.

Commemorative stamps dedicated to the oldest wooden church of the Faroe Islands. The set of two stamps of 450 oyru and a booklet with 10 stamps was issued on 15.09.1997.
